Week 06- Social Deduction Games
Social deduction games force players to interact in hopes to exchange information, which can be used to either lead to the end goal or distract from it. Most social deduction games use roles to help the interactions players have and distinguish what kind of information a player might possess or try to get out of other players. It relates to the six elements by needing actions to be taken by the players to extract information and rules to know the boundaries for getting information and the spread of that information. Objects could be the players roles in the game and goals are really important to this genre of game, because they’re weaving through a social situation in an effort to create or get an outcome.
As someone who is more introverted and has a short social battery it was really fun to play and practice socializing in a fun way. I usually hate these games as ice breakers but I think most people in our class are cool so I didn’t have a problem with any of the games at all.
